What to Expect

Someone once asked the question, "What two books would you want to have with you if you were stranded on a desert island?   For most Christians the answer would be, "The Bible and a hymn book."    At Classen Blvd Baptist Church, those books are the cornerstone of our ministry.

BIBLE
Our pastor uses the New American Standard Bible, but many of us still use the KJV, NIV and other translations. Pastor Tim recently did a series on the Bible and we learned that the KJV and the NASB are the closest English translations to original texts.   But our pastor maintains that, "The best Bible translation is the one you read."

MUSIC
At Classen Blvd Baptist Church, we sing traditional hymns mixed with contemporary songs.  Hymn books are in the pews, but we project the words on a big screen in the main auditorium for morning services and in Witt Chapel in the evening. You will recognize the timeless hymns of our faith alongside many of the praise songs you've heard on KLOVE.   Bro. June Carter has a dynamic voice and leads us each week in singing worshipful songs, old and new.

PEOPLE
Our church has been in the Britton neighborhood since 1952, and we still have a few members who were here at the beginning.  But we have many members and friends who live in the OKC Metro area, coming from Edmond, Warr Acres, Moore, and South OKC.  Some of our members grew up in Nazarene, Presbyterian, Methodist, or African-American churches, but have found Biblical truth and loving friends here at Classen.  We are few in number but that just means there is room for you!

YOUTH
We are looking for a youth minister as we have several young people on our rolls.  Before Covid, we were actively involved with Falls Creek and are praying for a return to those days.
